This prestigious private university was founded in 1964 and is located in one of Buenos Aires’ best neighborhoods, the Belgrano district. Study Spanish with students from all over the world at Belgrano’s state-of-the-art facilities. Classes are taught in Spanish or English. The Spanish spoken in Argentina is one of many beautiful variations. Porteños (people from Buenos Aires) have a very unique accent, largely due to their Italian heritage. However, learning Spanish in Buenos Aires will prepare you for communicating in Spanish anywhere. This is the ideal program for students interested in Spanish immersion and living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is the perfect location due to its vibrant culture and all that this cosmopolitan city has to offer.

Accreditation: The University of Belgrano (Universidad de Belgrano) is a fully accredited university by the government of Argentina.

History & Size: The University of Belgrano was founded in 1964 and currently has an enrollment of 10,944 students. It offers degrees in 9 different departments.

Class Information: Class size depends on the academic program you choose. Language classes are from around 8 to 12 students. Elective classes and classes with locals can vary in size from 8 to 35 students. The language and elective classes are with other students who are learning Spanish. For advanced students, you may take classes with Argentines. Language classes are typically held in the mornings. For those who choose to take any elective classes or classes with locals, these can be enjoyed during any part of the day.

Facilities: The University is housed in a modern building in the heart of the Belgrano district. It has ample study areas, a cute café, spacious cafeteria, computer labs, a library, and many offices dedicated to student life. The classrooms are very nice and well-equipped.

Teaching Style: You will find that the teaching style in other countries is different than what you may be used to. ESEADE University (at Academia Buenos Aires)

For our Winter Break programs, faculty-led custom programs, and other special arrangements, classes are often taught at the Academia Buenos Aires. The Academia Buenos Aires is partnered with the private university ESEADE (Instituto Universitario Escuela Superior de Economía y Administración de Empresa), who issues the transcript if one is needed. The Academia is located in the very heart of Buenos Aires. It is housed in a 19th-century historic building located right behind the Plaza del Mayo and the Casa Rosada (the presidential palace). Here you will find yourself within easy walking distance of some of the most famous monuments and sites of Buenos Aires. All professors have experience teaching in higher education and possess a solid background in language training and applied linguistics. Courses are designed with a steady focus on communication, while also addressing the grammatical aspects of the language.

Accreditation: Academia Buenos Aires is accredited by SEA, the language school association of Argentina, and by ESEADE (Instituto Universitario Escuela Superior de Economía y Administración de Empresa), which is a fully accredited university by the Argentina Ministry of Education. Academia Buenos Aires is also an "Accredited Center of the Cervantes Institute”. It is the first and only language center in Buenos Aires to have received this quality certification.

History & Size: Academia Buenos Aires was founded in 2003 and attracts students from all over the world.

Class Information: Class size is never more than 7 students to a teacher. Classes take place in the mornings. Many of the students come from Europe.

Facilities: School facilities are modern and comfortable, and offer all the necessary audio and video equipment for classes. Classrooms have comfortable chairs, whiteboards, wooden floors, and climate control (hot/cold), etc. The building in which the school is located is historic and was completely restored in 2004, resulting in a surprising mix of modern elements in a century-old setting. Rotating art exhibits give an interesting insight into the contemporary art scene in Buenos Aires. Academia Buenos Aires occupies the top floor of the building with access to the rooftop terrace. There are 10-12 classrooms available for teaching at any time. Additionally, there are computers with internet access available for student use (plus WiFi throughout the school), a small library with books and DVDs, a movie room, the teachers lounge, and a student breakroom.

Transcript: You will receive a certificate from the Academia de Buenos Aires and a transcript from ESEADE University. These documents are handled by the Arcos Learning Abroad office. For Winter Break, please note that ESEADE transcripts will not be released by ESEADE until mid-February.
