*The Spanish prerequisite for this program is Advanced Spanish II (Common European Framework Level 6)
**One of these three subjects is required for all students enrolled in Hispanic Studies, except those who have passed level C1 (Common European Framework Level 8) or those who have taken the Hispanic Studies program the previous semester

* Offered as part of the Spanish Language & Electives semester. The internships availble to you depend on your assessed language level.
* Each internship is 45 contact hours (*indicates 120 contact hours available for an additional cost of $800)
How to Select your Classes
SPANISH LANGUAGE:
The official name for this program at the University of Granada's (UGR) Center for Modern Languages (CLM) is CILE (Curso Intensivo de Lengua Española). If you choose this option each month you will take one block of Spanish.
Fall semester: October (80 hours), November (80 hours), December (40 hours)
Spring semester: February (80 hours), March (40 hours)*, April (80 hours)*, May (60 hours)*
*Depending on the year these months may change in how many hours are offered due to local holidays.
For those who arrives for the early start date for the Fall or Spring semester here is how that is structured:
20 hours of Spanish per week M - F from 9 AM to 1 PM
September: you may choose 80 hours (4 weeks) or 40 hours (2 weeks)
January: 60 hours (3 weeks)
SPANISH LANGUAGE, ELECTIVES & INTERNSHIPS:
The official name for these programs at the University of Granada's (UGR) Center for Modern Languages (CLM) are CLCE (Curso de Lengua y Cultura Españolas), which we call the "Language & Culture track" and CEH (Curso de Estudios Hispánicos), which we call the "Hispanic Studies track".
For this program for the Fall and Spring semester you have the option of an early start date taking a Spanish Language course in order to improve your language skills and earn additional credit.
The elective classes are Monday - Thursday. Classes are taught Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday. We try to have all of your classes in the mornings so that we can use the afternoons for cultural activities after lunch.
Language & Culture track (CLCE): 4 to 5 classes (a 6th course can be added on for an additional cost)
2 required Spanish courses (Speaking & Writing Skills, Spanish Grammar)
Choose 2 to 3 electives of your choice. These can be in English and Spanish. You must have at least passed Intermediate II (Level 4) to be able to take electives in Spanish. If not, you must choose your 2 to 3 electives in English.
An internship can count as one of your courses.
Hispanic Studies track (CEH): 4 to 5 classes (a 6th course can be added on for an additional cost)
1 required Spanish course (choose from 1 of 3 options)
Choose 3 to 4 electives of your choice. If you are in CEH you have the benefit of also being able to select courses from the CLCE offering.
You must have at least passed Advanced II (Level 6) to be able to take electives from this program. If not, you will be in CLCE.

- The Spanish prerequisite for this program is Intermediate Spanish II.
- All students take all 4 classes.
Atlantic Spain: The Camino de Santiago (includes 2 days walking the Camino de Santiago!)
The courses are taught over a 9 week period. The last three weeks of the program are for an optional internship (credit-bearing) or volunteer placement.
