Volunteer & Service Learning
Our programs include options for volunteer and community service opportunities. There is no better way to give back and develop a deeper cultural understanding than by doing volunteer work while abroad. Whether you decide to teach English to local elementary school students or spend time with the elderly, you will not only better your Spanish, but also make lifelong friends along the way!
Ecology & Tree Planting Project
Minimum Period: 1 time
Volunteer Tasks: Spend an afternoon or a weekend planting trees . The project begins with selecting the area to plant, purchasing the trees, preparing the soil, and then the planting itself.
Education Project (Teaching English to Pre-School & Elementary Students)
Minimum Period: 1 time
Volunteer Tasks: Either at a public or private school depending on schedules and availability. Volunteers will work under the direction of the English teacher to assist with interactive activities to practice English in a fun and engaging way.
Exercise & Arts Program for the Elderly
Minimum Period: 1 time
Volunteer Tasks: Practice some dance moves with attendees of a local senior citizens center. This is a great way for everyone to get some exercise and practice Spanish. The center also organizes art activities.
Environmental Education with Kids
Minimum Period: 1 time
Volunteer Tasks: Help work on projects to educate local school children on important environmental education topics such as energy conservation, recycling, and organic gardening.
